Anni Friesinger
Successful, charming and ambassador for Kühtai
Innsbruck Tourism signs a 2 year contract with the top athlete
She is beautiful, intelligent, scores points for charm and eloquence and she is one of the most successful sports women in the world: Anni Friesinger, star sprinter from Germany discovered her love for Kühtai and has now - since the beginning of June - sealed it for the next two years. The German speed skater will be promoting Innsbruck and its holiday villages for the Tourist Association as their advertising figurehead.
Austria's highest-lying winter sports resort, Kühtai, is becoming increasingly popular in the summer as a health and fitness centre for top athletes and amateur sports enthusiasts alike. 2,020 metres altitude, nature on your hotel doorstep, excellent mountain bike and running routes, hiking paths, a wide range of accommodation catering to the needs of this target group with training and diet programmes as well as sports medical support - these are the milestones along a highly successful road that gives Kühtai its unmistakeable profile.
Excellent Ambassador She has won 2 Olympic gold medals (2002 and 2006), she boasts 15 World Championship and five European Championship titles, won the All-round World Championship seven times and sprinted her way to setting world records - making the girl from Bad Reichenhall the most successful international athlete in World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships. Mag. Wolfgang Suitner, manager of the Kühtai Tourist Office, who engineered this cooperation, is enthusiastic about the "neo ambassador": "Anni Friesinger was not only impressed by Kühtai's location and surrounding natural scenery. It was the outstanding network of running and cycle paths, the track around the reservoir and the |

500-metre track, the quality of the accommodation as well as the recognition she receives as a sports woman here, that convinced her to chose Kühtai as a high-altitude training centre." |

Last Saturday, Friesinger met up with a 10 man team, among them her trainer, Gianni Romme, to build up her fitness and stamina at 2,020 metres altitude. In addition to training for the coming winter season, the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games are the speed skater's next great goal. On her "road to Vancouver", the Tourist Association for Innsbruck and its Holiday Villages with Kühtai will be a milestone, since the agreement with Ms Friesinger has been made for two years. It includes promotional appearances by Anni Friesinger, reports about her training in Kühtai |
on her weblog, relevant references to Kühtai on www.anni-friesinger.de as well as the use of names and photos for the advertising and marketing purposes of Innsbruck Tourism.
The Sprint Queen will be training in Kühtai this time for two and a half weeks, completing classic altitude training under the motto "live high - train high". The team around Anni Friesinger is staying in the luxury apartments at the AlpinResort Kühtai, the exclusive, newly opened apartment hotel built in the style of a Tyrolean country house. From here it's out to the running track or on to a bike every morning and into the fantastic mountain scenery surrounding them. For strength and endurance training there are also appropriate indoor facilities available.
